Baptisms will be celebrated inside the church.

Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptism preparation class which is held on:

-the 1st Monday of the Month in Spanish and

-the 1st Tuesday of the Month in English.

Baptism Prep classes must be taken before the Baptism day, and are to be attended here at St. Philip the Apostle.

Those who do not live in Bakersfield, must email [email protected] with a certificate of completion 1 week before the date of Baptism. 

The baptisms will begin at 9:00AM, so we ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before to give you enough time to check in.

The child’s Birth Certificate and Godparent sacramental certificates must be uploaded at the time of registration. If said documents are not submitted your baptism will be subject to rescheduling or cancellation. 

A donation of $50.00 per child at time of registration.

Parents and Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class.

One of the parents or a legal guardian must request baptism.

There must be a founded hope that the child baptized will be brought up in the Catholic religion.

The Parents and Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class prior to the date of Baptism.

Godparent Requirements:

Godparents must have received Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist, should be at least 16 years of age, and should be practicing Catholics who are able to give the example of a good Catholic life.

If the Godparents are married they must be married in the Catholic church and a copy of their certificate must be emailed to [email protected]
A baptized non-Catholic may not be a godparent but may be an official witness to the baptism, as long as there is one Catholic godparent.

Children who are seven years of age or older must enroll for the appropriate RCIA program according to their age before being baptized.
